AutoscriptUsers

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to read this information. If you are changing over to Cad Publisher and want to get going as quickly as possible we recommend that you do the following.

Processing a DXF file

  • Open the AutoScriptUsers.job file from the AutoScriptUsers sub-directory.
  • Load a DXF file at "cad drawing" on the Job card.
  • Load the AutoScriptUsers.set (settings) file from the AutoScriptUsers sub-directory.
  • Load the AutoScriptUsers.rsl (renderstyles) file from the AutoScriptUsers sub-directory.
  • Select the "load job" spinner.

This loads the dxf file into the program and it is rendered according to the set up of the settings and renderstyles. The initial View is set at CAD, select the monochrome or color tab to see how these output option will look.

Modify the settings or renderstyles to suit your output. (Check out the First Time Users information).

Hint
For those users involved with panel and label design, where you want to set up "color 1 = black" and then alternate the colors, have a look at the sample .rsl files in the AutoScriptUsers sub-directory. These make use of the "Cad Color" chart feature.

Key Features

  • In the settings file the output order can be either by "cad layer", "cad color" or "cad order". When cad layer or cad color is selected, what you have ON TOP in the order is what will be ON TOP in the output file. Just as you see it in the color view etc.
  • You can change a cad color for the output using the Cad Color chart in the renderstyles file.
  • If you make a change to the renderstyles or settings, select the "update" icon on the View to update those changes. If you change a Renderfont you need to re-load the job to see the change.
  • In the Fonts area of the settings file you can choose various options for the encoding of the output font. When you select "user" as the encoding, the program looks to the User.txt file in the fontcache/Encoding directory. This is a text file that can be edited according to your requirements.

Documentation
There are five hundred pages of help, which should explain all of the working of Cad Publisher. It is not a utility, so give yourself some time to understand the basic concepts, which are:

  • A dxf file can be processed according to your user set up.
  • The user setup can be a combination of the settings and renderstyles.
  • The renderstyles control how you want layers or colors rendered and can be edited and created to suit your requirements.
  • Renderstyles are assigned to layers or colors in the settings file.
  • The settings file controls, sizing and positioning, layer visibility, output order, output rendering and output fonts.
  • You can save all of the processing set-ups in a job file.
