Overview

Anti-Aliasing
This is how you get rid of the "jaggies" or "stair-case" effect and the edges of lines look smooth as they blend in to each other. It may be a bit of trial and error to get the right combination of resolution and anti-aliasing to get the result you need.

There are three levels of Anti-Aliasing that can be set:

  • none (1 x 1 sample) - no anti-aliasing is used, this happens autoamtically when bilevel is selected.
  • smooth (2 x 2 sample) - used for most purposes
  • smoother (3 x 3 sample) - high res work - a big file is created when this is selected so get ready to wait if you have a slow machine.

Hint:
Always try and get away with the lowest possible resolution to give you the result you need when the image is viewed at 100%. Beyond that it is a waste of file size.
